" Higher Education "
Scholarship Foundation
Infundo Ephakemeyo is a charitable foundation founded on the notion that all youth are entitled to a post-secondary education. It is a foundation that services the needs of Zimbabwean youth in the Greater Toronto Area who have graduated from high school and have been accepted to a college/university in Canada. Through monetary support to every student that qualifies, Infundo Ephakemeyo hopes to aid Zimbabwean youth seeking a post secondary education.
We depend on your support in order to improve lives and make the world a better place for generations to come. Join us today to learn all about volunteering and donating options.
About Our Foundation
We Make It Easy to Help Others
There has been a substantial increase since 2001 of Zimbabweans immigrating to Canada due to political and economic hardships in their native country. These adults have been reunited with their families and made Canada their new home. The reunification of families has led to an increase in the number of youth who have gone through the Canadian elementary and high schools.
The youth continue to graduate from high school in large numbers. Their parents, who had hoped for better employment opportunities still find themselves working more than two jobs to make ends meet.
Some are also enrolled in post secondary education or under going re-training. Financial marginalization makes post secondary education unattainable or difficult to obtain because of the large monetary obligations it carries with it. Some of the youth are having to take a year off to work and raise money and others are enrolling as part-time students. Therefore more scholarships are needed to support Zimbabwean youth in order to alleviate financial barriers to education that they may face.
Infundo Ephakemeyo Scholarship Fund is an attempt by a group of seven board of directors at providing the youth of Zimbabwe a decent chance at post secondary education. Infundo Ephakemeyo is governed by a constitution. It has 7 members on its Board of Directors who are highly respected in their areas of expertise. The board consists of educators and members in the financial industry.
